Agriculture Ministers from across the EU met, together with representatives from major EU agriculture stakeholders, during the Maltese Informal Council of Agriculture Ministers to discuss the interrelationships between water as a scarce resource, climate change and their impact on agriculture.
The CIHEAM was the Only Intergovernmental Organization present. The Secretary General, Cosimo Lacirignola presented the CIHEAM ACTION PLAN FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN (CAPMED2025) and the main projects related to water.
Water use in agriculture and in rural territories is a topic, which brings together agricultural, social and environmental considerations. The CIHEAM is particularly involved in supporting investments and innovations to conserve water, improve irrigation infrastructures and to enable farmers to improve irrigation techniques.
